August 03, 2012

Church Women United’s 2012 Human Rights Celebration

Theme:  “Embracing Our Oneness”

When:  Friday, August 3rd at 6:30 pm

Where:  The Sisters of Saint Joseph Chapel, 5031 West Ridge Road, Erie

Featured Speaker:  Sister Mary Claire Kennedy, SSJ

Focusing on “Human Trafficking”

“Along with economic instability, environmental disasters and health crises complicating the attainment of basic human rights for many, human trafficking plays a substantial role in declining human rights.  Human trafficking is a 32 billion dollar worldwide modern day slavery industry.  It is present in all 50 states, involving hundreds of thousands in the US and 27 million worldwide, many of them women and children.”

All are welcome to join the celebration of those individuals and organizations who work continuously to improve the lives of women, children and families, whatever their country of origin, culture or religious tradition.  Looking forward to hearing Sister Mary Claire and to learning more about this human rights challenge!   See you there!
